We are proud to announce: Luxembourg city signed a letter of commitment with space4environment !

We are excited to share that the city of Luxembourg has officially signed a letter of agreement to collaborate with space4environment as part of their work in Use Case 1. This partnership will focus on their work on the mapping and management of invasive alien plant species (neophytes) within the city’s borders.

Through this agreement, the City of Luxembourg will provide space4environment with access to a wealth of non-personal, municipally owned data, including information on habitats, climatic conditions, soil conditions, and environmental pollutants. This data will be made available free of charge, enabling a robust analysis of neophyte presence and spread across the city’s diverse landscapes.

The project aims to achieve several key objectives, including:

  • Mapping historical observations of neophytes within the municipal area
  • Identifying correlations between neophyte presence and various environmental factors
  • Highlighting at-risk areas and assets based on the potential threats posed by neophytes to human health, ecosystems, and infrastructure
  • Understanding spread patterns and predicting future spread trends

The insights from this collaboration will support better management of invasive species, protecting Luxembourg’s rich natural heritage and fostering a more sustainable environment. The data provided will be used exclusively for the goals of this use case, ensuring a focused and impactful approach.

We look forward to the valuable contributions this partnership will bring to the FAIRiCUBE project and the positive impact it will have on the City of Luxembourg’s environmental management efforts. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting collaboration!
