Empowering data-driven discovery through the FAIRiCUBE Knowledge Base

The FAIRiCUBE Knowledge Base (KB), accessible via the FAIRiCUBE Hub, offers a rich, user-focused ecosystem designed to support data analysis and machine learning on large and complex datasets. Rooted in the real-world needs and insights of FAIRiCUBE use cases, the KB delivers expert guidance, practical tools, and actionable recommendations. Its core mission is to foster knowledge sharing and empower users to unlock meaningful insights, especially through the development of data-driven machine learning models.

The KB consists of three key services:

  1. FAIRiCUBE Knowledge Base Digital Library
  2. FAIRiCUBE Query Tool
  3. FAIRiCUBE Chatbot

Together, these services provide a robust framework to guide use cases teams and end users through data analysis and processing tasks.

Initially targeted at use case managers, the KB is intended for a wide range of users, from scientists seeking to apply machine learning models in new domains, to urban policy makers exploring data for climate resilience planning. The KB is structured to accommodate varying levels of technical expertise, offering both high-level guidance and advanced tools.

The Digital Library offers streamlined access to key FAIRiCUBE documentation and use case resources. It includes onboarding material, examples, a self-training library focused on machine learning and data cubes, and a practical collection of “Tips & Tricks” based on real challenges, solutions and lessons learned from use cases. Much of its content is derived from FAIRiCUBE GitHub repositories and metadata of both datasets and analysis and processing resources, supplemented by relevant external sources. It also promotes expert-user collaboration through GitHub.

The Query Tool offers an intuitive, interactive gateway to explore FAIRiCUBE processing resources, ranging from datasets and pre-trained models to code libraries. Designed for users of all skill levels, it supports simple keyword searches, pre-defined queries and advanced custom queries. Powered by the detailed metadata from real use cases, the tool enables precise, tailored exploration and analysis of the resources. This flexible search functionality supports both unskilled users and those needing deep, parameter-specific access to resources.

The Chatbot acts as an intelligent assistant, helping users navigate the FAIRiCUBE ecosystem. It answers questions about the project’s goals, methodologies and tools, and directs users to relevant documentation, GitHub repositories and other resources. With its intuitive interface, the chatbot enhances accessibility and eases the learning curve for both new and expert users.
